Gena Parker
ANDERSON - Gena Lisa Linder Parker, 50, of 104 Greenway Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, in Gaffney.
Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Scott Parker and daughter of the late Blucher Edgar Linder Jr. and Hazel Keaton Linder. She was a teacher and formerly taught at Grassy Pond Elementary School and Mary Bramlett Elementary School in Gaffney. She was currently employed by Anderson County School District Five and was a teacher at Calhoun Academy of the Arts.
Mrs. Parker received the 1997 Teacher of the Year Award in Cherokee County. She held a Master's degree from Gardner Webb University and was a graduate of Clemson University. She was a member of New Spring Church of Anderson.
Also surviving are by two sons, Drake Parker and Wright Parker of the home; and a brother, Dr. B. Lee Linder and wife, Marie, of Gaffney.
Services were held Sunday, July 5, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gaffney, conducted by the Rev. Mike Frazier officiating. Interment was in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 2-4 p.m. at the church.
A memorial service will be held today at 11 a.m. at New Spring Church in Anderson with the Rev. Perry Noble officiating.
