Hazel Linder
Hazel Eugenia Keaton Linder, 83, of 114 Buck Shoals Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at her home.
Born in Anderson, she was the widow of Blucher Edgar Linder Jr. and daughter of the late Earl Keaton and Sadie Matthews Keaton. Mrs. Linder retired after 44 years as a teacher and received the Teacher of the Year Award in Cherokee County. She received a Master's degree from Converse College and was a graduate of Wofford College and Anderson College. Mrs. Linder was a member of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher.
She is survived by a son, Dr. B. Lee Linder and wife, Marie, of Gaffney; and two grandchildren, Drake Parker and Wright Parker; a son-in-law, Scott Parker of Anderson; a brother, Joseph Keaton and wife, Celon, of Anderson; a sister, Mary Ellen Griffin of Pomaria; and a sister-inlaw, Betty Linder Davidson, of Jacksonville, Fla.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Linder was preceded in death by a daughter, Gena Linder Parker; a grandson, John Arthur Linder; and two sisters, Sarah McCurry and Earlene Morris.
Services were held Sunday, July 5, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gaffney, conducted by the Rev. Mike Frazier. Interment was in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Visitation was from 2- 4 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
