Miss McIntosh, Mr. Nichols wed June 20
      Miss Elizabeth Chambers McIntosh of Gaffney, South Carolina and Mr. Robert Guy Nichols of Greenwood, South Carolina were married at 6 p.m. June 20th at Chimney Rock Baptist Church in Lake Lure, North Carolina. Pastor James Edward Brown Jr. of Gaffney officiated the ceremony.

      Dear Annie: I am sick and tired of my mother expecting me to fix everything. When my siblings get in financial trouble, she expects me to bail them out because I have a better job thanks to my college degree - a degree I paid for with student loans and grants. My family didn't help one bit.

Friday is last day to enter festival's New Talent Night
      Friday, July 10, at 5 p.m is the deadline to enter the South Carolina Peach Festival New Talent Night sponsored by the Blacksburg Rotary Club. The event will take place Tuesday, July 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Fullerton Auditorium on the campus of Limestone College.

208th Army Reserve Band in Newberry
      NEWBERRY - The caissons come rolling into the Newberry Opera House on Saturday, July 11, at 8 p.m. when the 208th Army Reserve Band of Concord, N.C., performs. The 208th is under the direction of Timothy Lyden, who resides in Chapin and is the principal of Prosperity-Rikard Elementary School.

Horn receives Master's in Music
      Brian T. Horn graduated magna cum laude with a Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va., during commencement ceremonies on May 10, 2009. Horn received his Bachelor's of Music Education degree from the University of South Carolina in December 2005.
