Marvin Bishop Sr.
Marvin Lee Bishop Sr., 64, of 473 Garvin Lake Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Rock Hill, he was the husband of Vicki Williams Bishop for 40 years and son of the late Joseph Leroy Bishop and Addie Jeanette Varnadore Bishop. He was former owner and operator of Marvin Bishop Pontiac, Buick, GMC, a former treasurer of Buick Advertising Association and a graduate of Blacksburg High School, Gardner Webb College and Limestone College, where he was a former president of the Saints Club. He was also involved in many other community and professional activities. Mr. Bishop was a member of the National Guard and Naval Reserve and Draytonville Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Marvin (Merv) Bishop Jr. and wife, Tracy, of Gaffney, Brent Bishop and wife, Susie, of Gaffney and Nick Bishop and wife, Brandy, of Greenville; four grandchildren, Lexy Grace Bishop, Livy Faith Bishop, Isaac Slade Bishop and Samuel Isaiah Bishop; two sisters, Carol Moss and husband, Roy, of Gaffney and Judy Worthy and husband, Johnny, of Pacolet.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Hayden Storm Bishop and Emily Claire Bishop, and a sister, Rosemary Adair.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 11, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
Services will be held Sunday, July 12, at 2 p.m. at Draytonville Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Harrill, Dr. Clyde Thomas, Dr. Wayne Brown and the Rev. Lawrence Davidson officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the residence.
