Gaffney native Josh Gallman finished second Sunday in the 95th annual Carolinas Amateur Championship in Charleston, S.C.Jack Fields of Southern Pines, N.C., beat Gallman by an 8-7 score to win the championship match at the Country Club of Charleston.

Gallman advanced to the finals with a 4-2 victory Saturday over the No. 1 seed and defending tournament champion Ben Kohles in the semifinals. The former Gaffney High standout golfer was eliminated by Kohles in last year's quarterfinals round.

Gallman, a rising senior at USC Upstate, was able to hang close to Fields through the first seven holes of the 36-hole final match.
