Retired from Duke Power

Cothrell Bonner Sr., 80, of 514 Kelly St., died Friday, July 17, 2009, in Brookview Healthcare Center.

Husband of Gladys Roberts Bonner, he was born in Cherokee County, a son of the late Kenneth and Creola Mack Bonner. He was a member of Mikes Creek Baptist Church and a retired employee of Duke Power Co.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bonner was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Roberts, and siblings, D.J. Bonner, Herman Bonner, Joe Bonner, Maynor Bonner, Minnie Brown and Mildred Ussery.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Brenda Phillips (Dewayne) of Mooresboro, N.C.; two sons, Cothrell Bonner Jr. and David Lee Roberts, all of Gaffney; an aunt, Tinnie Smith of Gaffney; two brothers-in-law, Charlie Brown and J.C. Crosby; five sisters-in-law, Opie Tate, Betty Watkins, Adelle Feamster, Omma Robinson and Doris Crosby; and six grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday, July 22, at 2 p.m. at Mikes Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Parks officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Body will be in the church Wednesday at 1 p.m.
