Bill Bright
Loran Lee (Bill) Bright, 84, of 110 Church St., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 17, 2009, at his residence.
Born in Chase City, Va., he was the husband of Elizabeth Byars Bright
and son of the late Carl Tillman
Bright and
Annie Frances Hamrick Bright. He was retired from Board of Public Works and was a United States Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific on the USS Guam. Mr. Bright was a member of Park Hills Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon Emeritus.
In addition to his wife, surviving are a son, Danny Lee Bright of Gaffney; three daughters, Shirley Bright Cook and husband, Robert D., of Columbia, Nancy Bright Batchelor and husband, Jerry, of Spartanburg and Donna Bright Peterson and husband, Steve, of Cowpens; six grandchildren, Ashley Eagle, Chad Eagle, Johnathan Batchelor, Stephanie Batchelor, Adrian Batchelor and Jessica Ward; and two great-grandchildren, Aiden Eagle and Cooper Ward.
Mr. Bright was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryant Lee Eagle, four brothers and two sisters.
Services were held Sunday, July 19, at 3 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Larry Sanders and James Holder officiating. Interment was in Frederick Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service.
