RUTHERFORDTON, N.C. - Clara Spencer Porter Hoots, 86, formerly of 1107 S. Limestone St. Ext., Gaffney, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 20, 2009, at Willow Ridge Rehabilitation and Living Center in Rutherfordton. Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Horace C. Porter Jr. and Charles E. Hoots and daughter of the late Eli Spencer and Annie Mahaffey Spencer. She was a homemaker and member of Draytonville Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Terry S. Porter; a daughter, Gail P. Camp of Gaffney; a grandchild, Marc Camp and wife, Kristie; two greatgrandchildren, Jordan Camp and Joel Camp; a sister, Beulah Blanton of Gaffney; two stepdaughters, Burma Poteat of Gaffney and Donna Robertson of Mt. Holly, N.C.; four step-grandchildren and six stepgreat grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 22, at 11 a.m. in Frederick Memorial Gardens with Dr. Keith Harrill officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Senior Centers of Cherokee County, 499 W. Rutledge Ave., Gaffney, SC 29341; or to the charity of one's choice. The family is at the home of Gail Camp, 1107 S. Limestone St. Ext., Gaffney.
