Judi Robbs
Judith Caldwell Robbs, 65, of 1409 Robbs School Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 19, 2009.
Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Thomas Ross (Tommy) Robbs, and daughter of the late John Duran Caldwell and Nancy Lipscomb Caldwell Speer. She retired from B.D. Lee Elementary School after teaching for 33 years. She graduated from Wingate College and Limestone College and received her Master's degree from the University of South Carolina. Judi was a member of the Cherokee County Reading Association, the S.C. Education Association, the Young at Heart Club at First Baptist Church and also was an election poll worker in Cherokee County for 20 years. Judi was a member of New Heights Baptist Church, where she was a former choir member.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, J.R. Robbs and wife, Haley, of Gaffney; a daughter, Kristi Robbs of Gaffney; a grandchild, Jesse Thomas Robbs; and two sisters, Linda Guswiler of Greencove Springs, Fla., and Ann Ellison and husband, Robert, of Columbia.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 22, at 2 p.m. at New Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Sidney Norton officiating. Interment will be in the Grassy Pond Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, July 21, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Heights Baptist Church, 1367 Pleasant School Road, Gaffney, SC 29341.
The family is at the home of J.R. and Haley Robbs, 1350 Robbs School Road.
