I would like to use your forum to express my gratitude to several people in Blacksburg.

Last week I spoke with Laura at the town offices regarding a problem. You see someone had dropped a couch off at the end of my street and drug users were finding it a safe and comfortable place to use.

I told Laura about the problem. She said she would speak with the town supervisor, who would get in touch with the land owner to try and resolve the issue.

Later that week I scared two people away from the couch when I was out for my daily walk. I called 911 and two Blacksburg officers came to my home. The officers relayed to the rest of the force to increase patrols. Since this happened, not only is the couch gone, but the high grass they were hiding in is cut down also.

So I would like to publicly thank all the people who had a hand in making my little part of Blacksburg safer for not only me but my neighbors as well. Marge Bauer Blacksburg, S.C.
