Gallman places 23rd at Southern Amateur
Josh Gallman USC Upstate standout golfer and Gaffney native Josh Gallman shot a 2- over-par 74 in the final round Saturday to finish tied for 23rd in the 103rd Southern Amateur played at Colonial Country Club just outside of Memphis, Tenn.
Gallman completed his third round Friday, posting his third-straight round under par with a 2-under 70 to finish the day at 6-under and tied for 18th in the tournament.
However, several players were unable to complete their rounds due to darkness and had to finish their rounds Saturday morning prior to the start of the fourth round.
After everyone had completed their third round, Gallman stood tied for 15th with his 6- under total.
Gallman began the final round with two pars before taking back-to-back bogeys on the par-3 third and the par-4 fourth. He steadied himself, though, and finished the front nine with five straight pars to go out in 2-over 38. After getting his game back on track, he started the back nine on fire by birdieing his first two holes to move back to even par of the day and 6-under for the tournament. However, he bogeyed the 14th and 15th holes to move back to 2- over for the day. He regrouped and parred out to finish the day with a 74.
Gallman finished the tournament at 4- under-par with a 284 total. The effort was good enough to tie for 23rd, one spot higher than his 24th-place finish last year.
