Co-op members save $14,870 by using 'Connections Card'

Members of Broad River Electric Cooperative continue to save thousands of dollars with their Co-op Connections Cards. Local members have doubled their savings in the past with $6,850.26 in prescription discounts during the month of June alone. That brings the tally of total savings on pharmaceuticals to $14,870.52.

Broad River Electric Cooperative introduced the Co-op Connections program in April and members quickly put it to use. By the end of May, members had filled 450 prescriptions and saved $5,914.95, according to information from Touchstone Energy Cooperatives.

The Co-op Connections pharmacy discount program offers savings of 10 to 60 percent on prescriptions at some 48,000 locations nationwide, including such giants as Wal-Mart and Walgreens. Co-op members nationwide have racked up $8.6 million in savings on prescription drugs using their Co-op Connections cards.

Cardholders also receive discounts at other local businesses, such as Hartzog's Inc., Pet Connection, Clearwater Pools & Spas, Inc., Brown Home Furnishings, and many more.
