Magician Alan Smith will present shows July 29 at Gaffney, Blacksburg libraries
      Alan Smith will perform feats of magic on Wednesday, July 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cherokee County Public Library in Gaffney and at 2:30 p.m. at the Blacksburg Library. Smith began his magic career in 2002 by performing for family and friends.

     CIRCLE CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY - The Vinnie Byers Missionary Circle of Bethel Baptist Church observed its anniversary Sunday, June 28, during the morning worship hour with the missionaries in charge of the services. Dr. J.W. Sanders Sr. delivered the anniversary sermon while the president, Andrenna Montgomery, gave special recognition to the circle's senior members. Since I am now a stay-at-home parent, I recently joined an online social networking system in order to reconnect with former co-workers.       QUINCY, Mass. - The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) urges people to be aware of the risks associated with the use of electricity. In recent years, an average of 53,000 home electrical fires have been reported per year. These fires resulted in an average of 500 deaths, 1,400 injuries, and $1.5 billion in direct property damage per year.
