Gaffney all stars celebrate after capturing the state championship earlier this month at the local sports complex. The Gaffney state champion Major League all stars sure aren't playing like a team that lost its Southeast Regional opener by double digits.

Gaffney has outscored its three opponents 25-2 after losing the first game of the Southeast Regional, 15-5, to Tennessee.

According to coach Blake Wood, the team's defense has been a huge part of the team's success. But the long ball hasn't hurt, either.

In Sunday's 10-0 victory over North Florida, Bobby Foos belted a 2-run homer in the first inning.

An inning later, Tucker Byars went deep with two teammates on board.

Tyler Parker allowed just three hits and struck out four to earn the win.

Foos homered again in the team's 4-1 win over South Florida on Saturday. But it was Colby Crowe's 3-run blast that was the difference in the game.

Byars went the distance to pick up the win.

On Friday, Foos and Dylan Stepp each had 2- run homers to power Gaffney to an 11-1 win over Western North Carolina.

Gaffney will be looking to avenge its tournament opener when it plays Tennessee today. A win today means the team can finish no lower than third in the 10-team tournament.

In the loss to Tennessee, Chris Clary had a grand slam for Gaffney.

Staunton Va., is hosting the Cal Ripken all-star Southeast Regional for 12 year olds.
