Lou Owensby
BLACKSBURG - Hattie Luvenia (Lou) Steadman Owensby, 74, of 153 Owensby Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Rutherford County, N.C., she was the widow of Joseph Ray Owensby and daughter of the late Lester William Steadman and Etta Putman Steadman. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Owensby was affectionately known as "Granny Lou."
She is survived by two sons, James William Owensby and wife, Velina, and Larry Russell Owensby and wife, Katie, all of Gaffney; four daughters, Patricia Quinn and husband, Joel, of Gaffney, Denise Wyatt and husband, Charles, of Gaffney, Terry Cudd of Cowpens and Andi O. Parker and husband, Steve, of Gaffney; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Steadman and wife, Sara, of Rock Hill; three sisters, Geraldine Kirkland of Gaffney, Gladys Rape of Blacksburg and Brenda Bannister of Florida.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Owensby was preceded in death by a daughter, Toni Owensby.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 29, from 12:30-2 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Greg Little and the Rev. Richard Brown officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
