Evelyn Vinesett Thomas, 86, of 933 N. Granard St., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

Mrs. Thomas was the widow of Clyde P. Thomas Sr. She was retired from the Cherokee County School District and was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. Clyde P. Thomas Jr. and wife, Joanne, of Gaffney and Jimmy Thomas of the home; two daughters, Mary Hunsinger and husband, Dr. Gene Hunsinger, of Burlington, N.C., and Cathy Good and husband, Johnny, of Gaffney; five grandchildren, Preston Thomas, Grady Thomas, Catie Allison and husband, Jason, Scott Hunsinger and wife, Donna, and Kristi Woodard and husband, Jason; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Hunsinger, Bryan Hunsinger and Jake Woodard; and a brother, Bill Vinesett of Gaffney.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Aug. 1, from 10-11 a.m. at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. Services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Dr. Gene Hunsinger officiating. Interment will be private.

The family will be at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Clyde P. Thomas Jr., 591 Grassy Pond Road.
