The respect was enormous and the outpouring of love and support was tremendous

2009-07-31 / Letters

Dear Editor:

During a time when it was not safe, especially in Cherokee County, to stop and help someone on the side of the road in distress, many people stopped to help.

"Slow, Funeral" signs on both sides of the road at opposite ends of our home slowed people down who we have never met before. No radios were heard blaring from vehicles while our family grieved. The respect was enormous and the outpouring of love and support was tremendous.

Memories were shared, cards and flowers were beautiful and very much appreciated, and the food was well-prepared and delicious. For all of those things and more, we thank you.

We wish to thank all of the friends who stopped by our home, those who prayed for our family and those who simply stopped to think of us during this tough time.

Most of all, to the First Responders, the EMTs, the hospital personnel, the passers-by at the accident site who helped without a second thought, the ones who helped our mother, and the ones who worked diligently to keep Timmy alive, THANK YOU! Words simply cannot express our appreciation for all that you did. With much gratitude, we appreciate you all, The family of Timmy Wayne (Hammer) Hambright Gaffney, S.C.
