POLICE REPORT
The Gaffney Police Department reported it found a fugitive from Florida while trying to serve a city man with arrest warrants.
According to a police report, officers went to a Magnolia Street home on July 25 looking for Robert Ray Myers, 28, of Sarratt Avenue, who subsequently was served with several arrest warrants for financial transaction card fraud.
A man who answered the door at the Magnolia Street home, Rusty Allen Campbell, 51, allegedly told officers that Myers wasn't there and that he had not been seen for three months.
Police were given permission to search the home and found Myers hiding in a shower, according to the police report.
Police subsequently determined that Campbell was wanted by the state of Florida and arrested him as well, according to the police report.
A thief or thieves targeted the contents of two vehicles on Marietta Street recently.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone entered a 1999 Pontiac and a 1999 Mazda parked in the 200 block early July 26.
The thief or thieves took a CD player, CDs, cash and loose change, a flashlight and cell phones.
Theft losses are estimated at $258.
About $1,700 in jewelry was reported stolen from one of two Destiny Drive homes following two July 27 burglaries.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone forced entry to one home in the 100 block between 6:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and took a set of diamond wedding bands, a white gold herringbone necklace, a white gold birthstone ring and a 1 1/2 carat diamond ring.
A second home in the same block of Destiny Drive was broken into between 7:40 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. About $240 cash was missing from that home.
More than $3,600 in theft losses were reported following a burglary on Goucher School Road.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone forced entry to a home in the 400 block between 9 p.m. July 25 and 1 p.m. July 26 and took a safe, $2,700 in jewelry, cash, coins, food, CDs and DVDs.
A thief entered a car on Cherokee Avenue on July 26.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, 25 CDs and a chrome auto fan were taken from a vehicle parked in the 2900 block between 12 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
Theft losses exceeded $200.
The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the use of an electronic stun gun during a July 25 arrest.
According to a police report, Charles Quantrell Dawkins Sr., 21, of 3rd Avenue, resisted during an incident at Gateway Drive and Providence Creek Road and used a closed fist to strike an officer.
An officer used an electronic stun gun to take Dawkins into custody. The officer subsequently sought medical attention for a wrist injury.
