Johnny W. Palmer
Johnny William Palmer, 64, of 114 Osage Circle, husband of Stella Louise Warren Palmer, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at 6:20 p.m. at 705 Gardner St.
Son of the late Babylon Palmer and the late Malinda Wilkins Palmer, he was born on July 25, 1944, in Cherokee County. He was preceded in death by two children, John Earl Palmer and William Berry Palmer; and five brothers, Clarence Palmer, Tom Palmer, June Palmer, Jesse Palmer and Jimmy Palmer.
Mr. Palmer was a member of True Holiness Church, where he was a member of the Senior Choir. He was a member of the Southland Troubadores for many years and Willie Banks and the Messengers for three years. He also traveled with the Rev. Frank Cooper Tent Revivals for many years.
Mr. Palmer was a member of Burn Center Rehabilitation in Augusta, Ga., and was a member of a bowling league.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa Palmer of Gaffney; his son, Terry Palmer of Cowpens; six sisters, Shirley Crosby (Roland) of Shelby, N.C., Vernell Robinson (Elgin) and Lillian Smith (John), both of Gaffney, Louise Thomas of Spartanburg, Helen Smith and Elma Cumberlander (Willie), both of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Billy D. Palmer of Cowpens and Dennis Palmer (Emma Jean) of Chesnee; 10 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; other sisters in-law, Saphee Palmer of Gaffney, Rosie Lee Palmer of High Point, N.C., and Grace Palmer of Asheville, N.C.; a special friend, Mary Allen; and a host of other relatives.
The family is at the home of his wife, Stella W. Palmer, 171 Huff Drive, Cowpens.
