FREAK ACCIDENT ON I-85
A 52-year-old Rock Hill man is in serious condition after he was struck in the throat by a granite rock in a freak accident July 26 on I- 85 in Gaffney. Benjamin "Rusty" Smith, 52, had throat surgery Friday afternoon at the Carolinas Medical Center Trauma Tower in Charlotte. A North Carolina man injured in a motorcycle collision in Gaffney Thursday afternoon has died at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
