William H. Corry
William Henry Corry, 63, of 710 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at his home.
Husband of Alfreda McCluney Corry, he was born in Gaffney, a son of the late Isaac and Mozelle Hill Corry Tate.
William was a 1964 graduate of Granard High School. He received a B.A. degree in Education from S.C. State College and a Master's degree in Education from the University of the District of Columbia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a former school teacher in Washington, D.C., and a member of Shekinah Glory A.M.E. Zion Church in Spartanburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Andrea Lyles of Gaffney; a brother, Thomas C. Corry (Cora) of Upper Marlboro, Md.; two sisters, Julia Corry Hare of Charlotte, N.C., and Betty Corry Amour of Lithonia, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 2 p.m. at Shekinah Glory A.M.E. Zion Church, Una, with the Rev. Richard Woods officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Body will be placed in the church Tuesday at 1 p.m.
