James Edgar Tallent, 65, of 559 Goldmine Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 31, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Navada, Mo., he was the son of the late James Lester Darnell and Delta Alice Henry Commenski and the husband of Teresa Gallman Tallent. He was retired from Overnite Transportation and a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Scott Tallent and wife, Mary Ann, of Gaffney and Brad Tallent of Catawba, N.C.; two daughters, Vickie Ann Reep and husband, Dean, of Maiden, N.C., and Jennifer Morris of Gaffney; a step-daughter, Natalie Briggs and husband, Joe, of Gaffney; three brothers, Michael Tallent, Chuckie Tallent and Len Tallent, all of Newton, N.C.; a sister, June Tallent of Hickory, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 1-2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church. Memorial services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Mickey Mullinax officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 246 Ford Road, Gaffney, SC, 29340.

The family will be at their respective homes.
