Wilma Mitchell
HICKORY GROVE - Wilma Louise Childers Mitchell, 93, of 2145 Smithford Road, died July 31, 2009, at her home.
A native of Hickory Grove, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Sudie Montgomery Childers and widow of William Brice Mitchell. She was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church and retired from Cannon Mills in York.
Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Gault of Gaffney; a daughter-inlaw and caregiver, Louise Mitchell of Hickory Grove; two brothers, Samuel Smoke Childers and wife, Harriet, of York and Gene Childers and wife, Brenda of Union; two sisters, Inell Bolin of Hickory Grove and Gale Propst of Clover; five grandchildren, Billy Gault and wife, Teresa, of Durham, N.C., Suzanne Childers and husband, Eddie, of Gaffney, Robert Gault and wife, Jeannie, of Gaffney, Kim Ronk and husband, Mike, of Gaffney and Scott Mitchell and wife, Billie Ann, of York; 11 greatgrandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her son, George Earl Mitchell; son-in-law, Robert Wayne Gault; a sister, Lillie Pickens; and brothers, Clarence Childers and Tom Childers.
Services were held Aug. 2 at 3 p.m. at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Larry Hyder. Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
Visitation was held Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.
