Gaffney Middle

practice Aug. 10

Gaffney Middle School will begin football practice on Aug. 10 at 4 p.m.

Players will need to wear tennis shoes, T-shirt and shorts and bring a completed physical form.

Ninth-grade begins

football practice

Ninth-grade football practice will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Students must have a physical to practice.

Physical forms can be picked up at the front office at Gaffney High Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Practice Aug. 11

for Granard

Granard Middle School will begin football practice on Aug. 11 at 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Players must have a completed physical from the doctor before practicing.

Physical forms are available at the school.

Players must wear shorts, tennis shoes and a T-shirt to practice.

GHS football tickets to go on sale

Gaffney High School reserved season football tickets can be purchased on Monday, Aug. 3 through Thursday, Aug. 6 from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. to last year's season ticket holders.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 10 to Thursday, Aug. 14, tickets will be sold to the general public. Tickets will only be sold from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on those days.

There are five home games this season at a cost of $6 per game and a total cost of $30.

Parking passes also will be on sale for season ticket holders.

The price will be $15 for every two tickets purchased.

The tickets will be sold in the attendance office.

Gamecock Club

banquet Aug. 13

The Cherokee County Gamecocks Club will hold its fall banquet on Thursday, Aug. 13 at the Cherokee National Golf Club. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Broadcaster Todd Ellis will be the guest speaker.

An auction for eight season tickets will be held and Friends of Carolina will recognize this year's scholarship winners.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from the following:

Kickball league

to debut in Aug.

A Co-Ed Kickball League will begin Tuesday, Aug. 25. On Thursday, Aug. 27, the league will begin for churches.

Lowe's won't renew naming rights

Lowe's will not renew its naming rights of Lowe's Motor Speedway when its contract expires after this season.

Lowe's cited changing marketing strategies Thursday as the reason it won't return in 2010. The home improvement chain signed as sponsor of then- Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1999.
