Tri-Cities Community Club hosts 92nd annual event in Hickory Grove

HICKORY GROVE - The Tri-Cities Community Club will host the 92nd annual Hopewell Day Picnic and Gospel Singing on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the old Hopewell Schoolhouse, located just off Hwy. 97 outside of Hickory Grove.

The singing begins at 10 a.m. Featured this year will be the Riverside Boys from Lockhart. There will also be lots of congregational singing.

For the past 37 years, the Tri-Cities groups have been sponsors of the Hopewell Day event. However, in the early years, local farmers would get together and prepare the now famous Hopewell Hash in conjunction with the annual culmination of a singing school. Today there is no singing school, but the cooking of the Hopewell Hash and the community gospel singing remain a tradition.

Everyone is invited to enjoy a day of fellowship, gospel singing, and, of course, that famous Hopewell Hash.
