School news

Grassy Pond Elementary School will have its Open House/Title 1 annual meeting Thursday, Aug. 13. K-2 meets from 5-6:30 p.m. and 3-5 meets from 6-7:30 p.m. A brief meeting will be held in the gym with classroom visitation afterwards.

B.D. Lee Elementary will have a "Welcome Back" school orientation on Aug. 13 from 5:30-7 p.m. There will be a mandatory parent meeting in the gym at 5:30 p.m. During orientation parents will have the opportunity to meet their child's teacher and pay the following fees: $5 instruction fee for kindergarten through fifth grade and kindergarten snack fee of 50 cents a day.

Meetings

Gaffney Masonic Lodge No. 186 meets on the second Tuesday every month at the Masonic Lodge, 219 E. Floyd Baker Blvd. A meal is served at 6:45 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

Support groups

AA meetings are held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. and Wednesday and Saturday at noon in the building behind Limestone Street United Methodist Church on Carlisle Street.

Narcotics Anonymous meetings are held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 6 p.m. For information call 1-800-828-5689.
