KM National Park will host weekend events

Kings Mountain National Military Park will host a Living History day Saturday, Aug. 15. Interpreters will present a backcountry militia encampment during the day and Ken Bloom will give a concert that evening.

The militia will be encamped at the park's visitor center, discussing life on the Carolina frontier. A variety of demonstrations will be held throughout the day, including weapons, cooking and more.

Ken Bloom will be performing in the park's visitor center at 7 p.m., featuring instruments such as the bowed dulcimer, guitar, zither and others. His performance will feature Celtic and Early American colonial music.

All of the events are free.

The park is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily and 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. weekends through Labor Day.
