Elizabeth Willard Self, 71, of 405 Christopher Road, Shelby, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.

Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Earnest Self and daughter of the late Lloyd Willard and Lula Phillips Willard. She was retired from the textile industry and a member of Pacolet Road Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Misty Dawn Self Trusty and husband, Brian, of Carrollton, Ga., and Lisa Michelle Self Jurgens and husband, Rick of Hampton, Ga.; two brothers, Dean Willard of Gaffney and David Willard and wife, Brenda, of Carrollton, Ga,; a sister, Vivian Bratton of Gaffney; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Self was preceded in death by a son, John Hurbert Self; three brothers, Larry Willard, Edward Willard and Junior Willard; and two sisters, Ruby Allen and Nadene Spencer.

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 14, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, at 2 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Powell and Mickey Mullinax officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Blacksburg.
