Under the lights
      Tonight, it's all about the lights. Jamborees, especially first ones like the Border Showcase, aren't so much about winning but preparing the team for the regular season. That means getting the kinks out of the kicking game and working on execution.

Stars set to shine at Border Showcase
      Gaffney fans might want to consider bringing binoculars or a telescope because there will be so many stars out at tonight's Border Showcase. Six of the state's top 25 football recruits will be in action at the jamboree, including four from the Byrnes Rebels, who will play Shelby at 8 p.m.

Wildcats host jamboree
      The evaluation period is almost over for Blacksburg players hoping to claim a starting position for the Aug. 21 season opener. Blacksburg hosts the Iron City Jamboree tonight at 6:30 p.m. at T.A. Campbell stadium. Admission is $6.

Limestone athletes excel in classroom, too
      Over 140 Limestone College student-athletes were named to the spring 2009 Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll. Student-athletes must achieve a 3.0 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale to be eligible for the Presidential Honor Roll.

Tiger shoots 67 to lead PGA
      Missing the cut shouldn't be a problem for Tiger Woods at this major. He was better than anyone else at the PGA Championship on Thursday morning, shooting a bogey-free, 5- under 67. He's one stroke ahead of playing partner and defending champ Padraig Harrington.
