The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported several breakins, thefts and an attempted burglary on Wendy Drive in Blacksburg between Aug. 14 and Aug. 15.

According to separate police reports:

Someone rifled through a vehicle parked in the 200 block between 2:30 p.m. Aug. 14 and 1:30 p.m. Aug. 15. Most of the items from the vehicle were found on the ground but a lighter was missing.

Between 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14 and 11 a.m. Aug. 15, someone tried to break into a home in the 100 block. Pry marks were found on both the front and back doors of the home but no entry was made.

Between 11:15 p.m. Aug. 14 and 9:15 a.m. Aug. 15, someone broke the rear window of a Nissan van parked in the 200 block, causing about $200 in damage. It was unclear if anything was missing from the vehicle.

Between 1 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. Aug. 15, someone forced entry to an outbuilding in the 200 block and rummaged through two vehicles. A Husqvarna model 340 chain saw valued at $300 was taken.

About $600 in prescription medicine was reported stolen following the Aug. 14 burglary of a home on Marietta Road.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone gained entry to the home between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. and took the drugs Xanax and Lortab.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating two incidents in which fake $100 bills were passed at area convenience stores.

According to one report, a man passed a fake $100 bill at the J. Express on East Cherokee Street in Blacksburg on Aug. 14 at about 9:30 p.m. The man purchased $10 in gas and was given $90 in change.

In a second report, police said a fake $100 bill was passed at the Kangaroo Express on Shelby Highway between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Aug 14.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported the break-ins of two properties owned by a local rental property company.

Someone broke out a window to gain access to a home in the 100 block of Riverbrook Drive between 4 p.m. Aug. 13 and 8 a.m. Aug. 14. Theft and damage losses are estimated at $170.

On Aug. 16, someone entered a property in the 100 block of Mascot Drive. It was unclear if anything was taken.

Two mailboxes were vandalized on Chesnee Highway.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, vandals struck two mail boxes in the 1800 block, causing about $90 in damage, on Aug. 13.

A thief stole about $60 in property during a vehicle break-in on South Green River Road.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported someone entered the truck while it was parked in the 1400 block and took two prescription medications and a Palmetto Bank checkbook.

Two handguns and a checkbook were stolen from a Leagon Drive, Blacksburg, home during an Aug. 13 burglary.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported someone forced entry to the home in the 500 block between 7:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. and took a .32- caliber Rossi handgun and a .38-caliber Taurus handgun, as well as a checkbook. Theft losses are estimated at $676.

A moped was taken from the Starmax Entertainment Center parking lot on Aug. 14.

The Gaffney Police Department reported a 2005 Qinqui moped was taken from the parking lot between 1:30 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. The moped was having engine trouble and would not start. A black truck was parked near the moped at about the time it was taken. It was valued at $200.

Two purses were stolen from cars while they were parked at a West Floyd Baker Boulevard shopping center Aug. 13.

The Gaffney Police Department said one purse was stolen between 7:15 p.m. and 7:25 p.m. while a woman was parked at 153 Walton Drive. The purse and contents are valued at $100.

A second purse and a GPS unit were stolen from a vehicle parked behind the Domino's pizza at 125 Walton Drive between 8 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. The purse and GPS unit are valued at $220.

The Gaffney Police Department was called to investigate an Aug. 12 incident during which a woman was threatened with a sword.

According to a police report, a woman who lives in the 100 block of White Oak Drive claimed a neighbor threatened to cut her head off. Police said they attempted to make contact with the alleged swordsman but no one would come to the door.

The windows of two vehicles were damaged Aug. 11 on North Shelby Street in Blacksburg.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, a 1996 Pontiac and a 1989 Ford Ranger parked in the 600 block were damaged with a rock or or other object. Damage was estimated at $700.

Beer thieves targeted a Shelby Highway convenience store twice in just a few days.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, several subjects took five cases of beer Aug. 11 at about 5:45 p.m. and fled the Kangaroo Express convenience store in a gold pickup truck. The beer is valued at $80.

On Aug. 15 a 10:40 p.m., a single subject took four cases of Bud Light beer and fled without paying. The beer is valued at $64.

A Cherokee Avenue convenience store was targeted for a burglary Aug. 12.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, someone busted out a front glass door to the Save More Drive Thru and took 60 packs of cigarettes valued at $300. Door damage is estimated at $500.

A burglar targeted the Joy Drive In on Cherokee Avenue between Aug. 11 and Aug. 12.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office reported someone broke into the business and caused about $25 in damage. Nothing appeared missing at the time of the report.

A 35-year-old city man was arrested on several drug offenses following an Aug. 10 police investigation.

According to the Gaffney Police Department, an officer received information James Lewis Logan, 35, of Lapalma Drive, had a quantity of crack cocaine on his person and would be picked up by a cab in the area of 3rd Street and Limestone Street.

Police reported a traffic stop was initiated and that officers observed Logan allegedly stuff something in his pants.

Police said they subsequently searched Logan and found three types of prescription medications in his left pocket and a glassine baggy containing suspected crack.

He was charged with possession with intent to deliver the drugs and possession with intent to deliver within 1/2 mile proximity of a school or playground.
