The Senior Centers of Cherokee County needs your help. Between now and Oct. 15, visit www. ilovechristiecookies. com and nominate the Senior Centers as your favorite charity. One vote per e-mail address is allowed, so ask family, friends and business acquaintances, etc. to vote for the Senior Center of Cherokee County. Contact person will be Joan Wood. The top charity will win $10,000. The runner up wins $5,000 and the next 10 will receive $1,000 each. Call Tangie at 487-2726 for more information.
Special events
This is the last week of the "Toys and Games That We Loved" exhibit at the Kings Mountain Historical Museum, 100 E. Mountain St., Kings Mountain. The exhibit will run through Saturday,
Moses Wood, SCV will meet Aug. 20
Moses Wood Camp No. 125, Sons of Confederate Veterans will meet Thursday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Cherokee History and Arts Museum, 301 College Drive. Guest speaker will be Frank Berry, whose topic will be Confederate Soldiers and Signers of the Ordinance of Secession.
Berry is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, College of Engineering and is a retired senior engineer technician, where he then worked for the Richland County Sheriff's Department, Investigations Division, Major Crimes Section, Intelligence Officer, Retired. He is still an active State Constable and Directorate of Engineering and Housing at Fort Jackson and Project Manager for Civil Engineering of the Carolinas.
He is Past Master Earlewood Masonic Lodge 371, 32nd Scottish Rite Mason, Shriner, Jamil Temple, and also served in the United States National Guard from 1962 until 1968.
He is presently 6th Brigade Commander for the Sons of Confederate Veterans, S.C. Division, Chairman of the S.C. Grave Registration Project, National Graves and Monument Committee Division representative, and member of the S.C. Division Ordinance of Secession Signers Monument Committee. He is presently Judge Advocate Palmetto Camp No. 22 and Past Charter Commander Palmetto Camp No. 22 of Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Class reunion The Gaffney High School Class of 2000 reunion meeting will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 5 p.m. at Bronco.
