LEDGER READERS ON THE ROAD

Pictured here are Susy Alexander Davis, Marsha Akins (center, owner of Makins Hats) and Bennie Blalock at the Makins Hat Factory on 7th Avenue in New York. Makins is an exclusive hat maker that sells to Saks, Neiman Markus and various specialty shops. She is the last hat maker in the U.S. to make hats the oldfashioned way, by hand using wooden forms. It is rare to see Carlos Santana, Justin Timberlake (or myself!) without a Makins hat on. We also got to see Steely Dan at the Beacon Theatre and Wicked on Broadway on the trip. Julitan "Chin" Foster and Frankie Posey Jr. were among those making a recent trip to Washington, D.C., with Shady Grove Baptist Church. The two hold The Ledger in front of The White House.  Mark, Patty, and Anna Grace Hughes took The Gaffney Ledger on a 26-day trip across 10 states, 25 national parks, two presidential libraries, and to Washington, D.C.
