(Ledger photo / JOE L. HUGHES II) A firefighter from the Macedonia Volunteer Fire Department takes a look at a badly damaged Honda Accord following a multiplevehicle accident near the 87-Mile Marker on Interstate 85 just before 5 p.m. Sunday.

Four vehicles are believed to have been involved in the accident that backed up traffic on both sides of the interstate for nearly an hour.

Injuries to those involved in the crash and their severity were unknown as of press time, though Regional One helicopter airlifted at least one person to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
