Barbara Byars
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Barbara Carroll Byars, 55, of Kings Mountain, N.C., died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at her home.
For 36 years the wife of Robert M. "Bob" Byars, she was born in Cherokee County the daughter of the late Joseph Carroll Sr. and Annie Turner Robbins. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and an employee of Dr. Wes Turnage, D.D.S., in Gaffney.
In addition to her husband and mother, Byars is survived by a daughter, Amy Byars Sahms and her husband Willie, of Bessemer City, N.C.; her step-father Sidney Robbins of Gaffney; three sisters, Marie "Sis" Allison and her husband Eugene, of Blacksburg, Mary Littleton and husband Rick, and Anita "Hoppy" Sellars and husband, Richard "Snake" Sellars, each of Gaffney; four sisters-inlaw, Jane Gilbert, Sue Jean McCluney, Ann Green and husband Joe, and Dale Tanner and husband Dwight, each of Kings Mountain; and a grandchild, Dolan Ball.
Byars was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Carroll Jr.
Services will be held at Eastside Baptist Church in Kings Mountain Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at 4 p.m., with the Revs. Dan Wallace and Troy Braswell officiating.
The family will accept visitors from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Eastside Baptist Church fellowship hall.
