Longtime Cherokee County Councilman James Batchler is expected to be released after a lengthy stay in the hospital on Tuesday.

BATCHLER Batchler was admitted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, Aug. 12, after experiencing trouble "getting around."

Family members said Batchler suffered a fall while on his way to a meeting in early August.

Batchler apparently fractured a hip as a result of the fall, according to family members.

There also was a concern that he had developed a blood clot behind his knee, the councilman said in a phone conversation.
