Betty Parker
BLACKSBURG — Betty Hampton Parker, 65, of 116 McKee Drive, passed away Saturday Aug. 22, 2009, at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Born in Nueces County, Texas, Parker was the wife of Jerry Parker and daughter of the late W.B. and Blanche Gillett Hampton.
She was a retired customer service representative for Duke Energy and a member of St. John United Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday School teacher, choir member and treasurer.
In addition to her husband, Parker is survived by two daughters, Lori P. Davis and husband David, of Columbia, and Tracey P. Hively and husband Kevin, of Gaffney; a brother, Jerry Hampton and wife Judy, of Corpus Christi, Texas; and two granddaughters, Parker Ann Hively and Quincie Grace Hively.
The family will receive friends Monday evening at Gordon Mortuary from 6-7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at St. John United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Boshell officiating.
Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John United Methodist Church Children's Ministry, 105 S. Rutherford Street, Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.
