Kathy Kirby
Kathy Lynn Prevatte Kirby, 54, of 225 Brittany Road, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at her home.
Born in Fresno, Calif., she was the wife of Phillip W. Kirby and daughter of Robert E. (Bob) Prevatte and Helen Ostergard Prevatte. She was employed by the Cherokee County School District, was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and received her Masters degree from College of Charleston. She attended First Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two stepsons, Phillip Michael Kirby and wife, Misty, of Gaffney and Adam Lawrence Kirby of Columbia; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Beth Kirby Beverly and husband, Allan, of Blacksburg; two brothers, Steve Prevatte and wife, Janet, of Charlotte and Bobby Prevatte and wife, Pam, of Moore; a sister, Sherry Brown of Gaffney; and four grandchildren, Kane Beverly, Konner Beverly, Lucy Beverly and Makenna Kirby.
The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 28, from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.
Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Joel Sellers officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Preschoolers With Disabilities Program of the Cherokee County School District, P.O. Box 460, Gaffney, SC 29342.
The family is at the home of Bob and Helen Prevatte, 449 Lake Whelchel Drive.
