Calvin "Ed" Jones
INMAN - Calvin "Ed" Jones, 74, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Smith-Phayer Hospice House in Landrum.
He was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Gaston County, N.C., a son of the late Love Benjamin and Hattie Mae Harrill Jones. Mr. Jones was a former Gaston County firefighter, a
U.S. Marine veteran,
serving in the Korean Conflict, and was a featured guest on the Jack Taylor program on WCGC radio station in Belmont.
He is survived by sons and daughters in-law, Calvin E. Jones Jr. and Barbara Jones of Spartanburg and Derek and Darlene Jones of Inman; a daughter, Kimberly Watkins of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Isabella Jones, Matthew Jones, Melissa Lago and spouse, Louie; and a great-grandchild, Milania Lago
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Crowe Jones, and brothers Harrill Jones and David Jones.
A graveside and interment service will be held Thursday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia officiated by Evangelist Rev. Jack Taylor and James Price.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, Gastonia.
