Jerry Wayne Pennington, 60, of 275 Great Meadows Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009 at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late John Pennington and Rosa Parker Pennington. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and received the Purple Heart, Purple Cluster and Bronze Star. He was formerly employed as a carpet installer and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by a brother, Wendell Pennington and wife, Myrtle, of Morganton, N.C.; and three sisters, Peggy Parker and husband, Randy, Trudy Reynolds and husband, Joe, and Betty Crow, all of Gaffney.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Pennington, Essel Pennington and Winfred Pennington.

No services are scheduled.
