Mary Jolly Houtkin, 71, of 1938 Cherokee National Hwy., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at her residence.

Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of Martin Houtkin and daughter of the late Amos Jolly and Janie Towery Jolly. She was retired from the textile industry and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Rodney Greene and wife, Liz, of Martinsville, Va., and Jeffery Greene of Mooresboro, N.C.; a daughter, Paula Pennington and husband, Johnny, of Gaffney; a stepdaughter, Nancy Mathis of Blacksburg; 10 grandchildren, Sarah Terry, Mary Greene, Crystal Hall, Constance Lewis, Shannon Mosley, Brian Mosley, Lisa Pennington, Carla Pennington, Mark Cooke and Tracie Cooke; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, David Jolly and wife, Shirley, of Lott, Texas, Charles Jolly and wife, Hazel, of Fort Mitchell, Ala., Cecil Jolly and wife, Brenda, of Gaffney; and a sister, Betty Jean Scruggs and husband, Sheley, of Charlotte, N.C.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Graveside services immediately followed at 2 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Stuart A. Kersey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 505 Fairview Road, Gaffney, SC 29341; or Regional Home Health Services, 120 Heywood Ave., Spartanburg, SC 29303.

The family will be at the residence.
