Fund raisers

l The fourth annual Labor Day fund raiser for Cherokee County Meals on Wheels, sponsored by Gaffney Masonic Lodge No. 186, will be held Monday, Sept. 7, beginning at 7 a.m. at 219 E. Floyd Baker Blvd. Barbecue is $8 a pint; hash is $8 a pint and barbecue slaw is $3 a pint.

l Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department will be selling barbecue and hash on Monday, Sept. 7, at the main station and sub-station, starting at 8 a.m. and continuing until it's sold out. Pints are $7 each with a special of 3 pints for $20. The main station is located at 137 Blackwell Road and the sub-station is located at 1136 N. Mountain St.

Red Cross

program

l Limestone College, the Piedmont Chapter of the American Red Cross's 2009 Community Partner of the Year recipient, will host a new volunteer orientation class on Sept. 10 from 6-7 p.m. in the conference room at A.J. Eastwood Library on campus. There will be another volunteer orientation on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Red Cross office, 405 N. Logan St., from 10-11 a.m. for those who can not attend the evening orientation. Pre-registration is required. To register or for more information call 864-489- 6066 or go by the Red Cross office during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Meetings

l The Tuesday Woman's Club will meet on Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Bill Childers. Co-hostesses are Mrs. Tim Childers and Mrs. Gene Moorehead.

Gospel singing

l Leabron and Betty Jo Rogers will have their third anniversary gospel sing on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. at Rock Springs Baptist Church, 1184 Rock Springs Church Road, Blacksburg. Special guests will be The Hamptons of Blacksburg. Refreshments will be served following the service.

Holiday hours

l The Cherokee County Public Library in Gaffney and the Blacksburg branch will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, for Labor Day.
