BLACKSBURG - Claude Edward Davis, 73, 232 Porter Road, husband of Hazel Mode Davis, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center, Gaffney

Born in Cherokee County, he was a son of the late William Clyde and Carrie Starnes Davis. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, retired from Timken and a member of CKC Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, Hazel, he is survived by two sons, Brian Davis of Blacksburg and Dennis Davis of Gaffney; two brothers, Jack Davis and Thomas Davis both of Blacksburg; two sisters, Carolyn Wright of Blacksburg and Vera Brown of Salisbury, Md.; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, W. C. Davis, and two sisters, Julie Maness and Doris Ham.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Services will be held Friday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Lowe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Danny Ham Jr., William Davis, Derek Ham, Jonathan Gantt, Alton Davis and Roger Wright.
