AAUW's first meeting of 2009-2010 is set for Sept. 14
AAUW members Sara Setzer, left, and Dawn Bridges, right, enjoy some of the humorous responses to the "Who Wants to be a Star" game. The game will be part of the program for this year's first AAUW meeting on September 14 at the House of Pizza. The Gaffney Branch of American Association of University Women will meet Monday, Sept. 14, at noon at the House of Pizza, 1649 E. Frederick St. Prospective members are invited to attend this first meeting for the 2009-2010 year.
The program will include a review of the book Lighting the Way: Nine Women Who Changed Modern America by Karenna Gore Schiff. A game based on the book will be the culmination of the three-year long study of these significant women. Pat Hall, program vice-president, will also discuss changes to the organization's
bylaws that took place at the AAUW national convention, which was held in St. Louis in June.
AAUW is part of a national organization with state and local affiliations. AAUW members are also members of an international organization, the International Federation of Women. Anyone who has a degree from an accredited college or university is eligible for membership. The branch meets during the school year the second Monday of the month.
