Irene Harding
BLACKSBURG - Irene Amanda Harding, 95, formerly of 101 S. York St., passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late Will P. and Cleo Dover Harding. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Eastern Star and had served as Worthy Matron. She was formerly associated with Southern Bell as an operator and was an associate of Iron City Drug for 32 years.
"Miss Irene" is survived by a brother, Rush Hardin of Spartanburg: six nieces; eight nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Ray Harding and Roy Harding, and sisters, Merlee Mullinax, Ione Martin and Wilma Rhodes.
Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. at Blacksburg First Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Hammett officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Family members are at their respective homes.
