57th Littlejohn reunion returns to original home
The 57th annual Littlejohn family reunion will take place Sunday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m., but will find this year's setting a little different than the past.
Mulberry Chapel Church in the Asbury Community will be the setting for the 57th annual Littlejohn family reunion on Sunday, Sept. 13. The site of the gathering will be at its original home - Mulberry Chapel Church on Asbury Road, just off Hwy. 18. Everyone attending is asked to bring a well-filled basket as part of the fellowship.
"The decision was made to hold the reunion at the church so that family members can view the new historical marker that was erected in April," said Larry B. Littlejohn, third generation president of the reunion. "It will make family members proud."
Restoration work is still in progress on the sanctuary, which was erected in 1869. Cherokee Masonry is in charge of the project.
"The people at Cherokee Masonry, along with CHAPS, are to be commended for taking on such a huge task," said Littlejohn.
Local dignitaries will be in attendance.
