UPS employees spend two days sprucing up Cherokee Children's Home
Cherokee County citizens united to make their mark on the area during United Way's sixth annual Week of Caring. Aug. 31-Sept. 4.
"Cherokee Children's Home was very fortunate to benefit from this outpouring of community involvement," said Judy Nix, director of development at the children's home.
United Parcel Service, better known as UPS, worked at the home for two days. They edged beds, trimmed shrubbery, pressure washed the driveway, put out pine needles, raked leaves, cut down trees and hauled off brush. This committed group also planted grass and applied fertilizer, and braved a small snake, yellow jackets and bees.
"What a pleasure it was to come to work Tuesday and see how great the grounds looked," said Nix. "After 20 years the home needed a little sprucing up and this wonderful group of volunteers certainly stepped up to the challenge to get the job done."
