Bloodmobile visit
The Piedmont Blood Center's Bloodmobile will be at Walmart in Gaffney today from 2-8 p.m. Donations will support the Shriner's Hospital for Children. All blood types are needed. By donating regularly, blood donors can save three lives, lose a pound, reduce cholesterol and lower the risk of heart disease. Eating well and drinking plenty of liquids the day before and the day of your donation will make for an effortless process.
Church news
Annual revival services will begin Sunday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m. at Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, 111 Sycamore St. Homecoming speaker will be the Rev. Sandra Sistare of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church, Landsford. Revival services will continue Monday, Sept. 14, through Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. Minister Samuel Mayers of Redeeming Love Outreach Ministries, Decatur, Ala., will be the speaker.
Limestone Street United Methodist Church, 910 N. Limestone St., will have a yard sale and bake sale Saturday, Sept. 12, from 8-10 a.m. in the building behind the church on Carlisle Street. There will be lots of nice items and a wide variety of baked goods for sale. Come see.
Revival services will be held Sept. 14-18 at 7 p.m. at Heaven Bound Baptist Church, 140 Blanton Meadows. Guest speaker will be Dr. Bo Wagner, pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Mooresboro, N.C. Homecoming services will be held Sunday at Broad River Baptist Church, Blacksbug. The Rev. Joshua Hardin, a native of Smyrna, will be guest speaker. Rev. Hardin is a student at Fruitland Baptist Bible College. He and his wife, Jessica, currently reside in Hendersonville, N.C. Pastor Eric Nixon invites everyone to the 10 a.m. Sunday School and the 11 a.m. worship service. A fellowship meal will follow the morning sermon.

Broad River Baptist Church, 2315 Legion Rd, Smyrna, will have second Saturday night gospel singing on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.
Cherokee Falls Baptist Church, 109 School St., Cherokee Falls will have homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 13. A singing at 10 a.m. will feature "Cross Reference." Guest speaker at the 11 a.m. worship service will be Keith Mincey, Mission Ministry Coordinator for the Piedmont Baptist Association, Easley. Lunch will be served after the worship service in the recreation building on Batchelor Drive. No evening services will be held.
Gowdyesville Baptist Church is an ongoing host site for Angel Food Ministries, a nonprofit, nondenominational ministry dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the United States. Anyone can purchase a box of groceries for $30. One box will feed a family of four for one week or a family of one for a month. The menu changes each month. You can purchase as many boxes and specials as you wish. The food is first quality. Purchases may be made with cash and EBT (food stamps). Online ordering is available at www.angelfoodministries. com and you can make your purchase with debit and credit card online; use Gowdyesville Baptist Church as your host for ordering. Judgment House - "At the Crossroad" - will be presented by Hopewell Baptist Church on Sept. 18-20, Sept. 25-27 and Oct. 2-4. Gospel concert

Fund raisers
The Blacksburg High School Marching Band will have a fish fry Saturday, Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Plates will be $8 and include fish or chicken, French fries, hush puppies, slaw, and tea or lemonade. Baked goods will also be for sale.
Veterans events
Veterans who are wondering if they are getting all of the VA benefits to which they are entitled will be interested in attending a benefits fair Saturday, Sept. 12, beginning at noon at the Elks Lodge, 115 O'Neal St. Sponsored by the Dorn VA Medical Center and the Cherokee County Veterans' Affairs Office, the fair will provide information on pensions, service-connected compensations, health care, nursing home services, hearing aids, death pensions, burial benefits and counseling. Meetings
The Cherokee County Republican Women will meet Monday, Sept. 14, at 11:45 a.m. at Aegean Pizza. There will be no outside speaker.
The Cherokee County Branch of the NAACP will have its monthly meeting Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at Westside Full Gospel Church.
