Rev. Ed Schaible

SUWANEE, Ga. - Rev. Cornelius Ed Schaible Jr., 95, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Ga. Born in Richmond, Va., he was the husband of the late Ruby Nell McClung Schaible for 69 1/2 years and son of the late Dr. C.E. Schaible Sr. and Adelaide Maynard Schaible. He grew up in Hartsville, S.C., where his father was head of the Religion Department at Coker College. He graduated from Wake Forest College and was editor of the school paper. He graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., with a THM degree. He pastored churches in South Carolina and served as moderator in the Charleston Baptist Association and the Savannah River Association. He served as interim pastor in churches for many years after retirement. The past six years he lived with his daughter, Carol S. Dolan and husband, Richard, of Suwanee, Ga. He is also survived by two sons, Charles E. Schaible and wife, Pat, of Macon, Ga., and Dr. Robert M. Schaible and wife, Sally, of Portland, Maine; six grandchildren, Dr. Sally S. Cramer and husband, Steve, Susie S. Fowler and husband, Troy, Dr. Richard L. Dolan Jr. and wife, Elaine, Robert E. Dolan and wife, Nicole, Charles D. Dolan and wife, Amy, and John A. Dolan and wife, McKenzie; and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. at Cowpens First Baptist Church.
