Kenneth Roy (Radar) Painter, 51, of 727 Abingdon Road, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Dewey Painter Jr. and Thelma Hughey Painter. He was formerly employed by the Cherokee County School District and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by a son, Shannon Painter of Cowpens; and two sisters, Ruth Wilkie and husband, Steve, of Gaffney and Sheila Greene and husband, Arthur, of York.

Mr. Painter was preceded in death by a brother, Mickey Painter.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 2:30 p.m. at True Gospel Independent Baptist Church with the Rev. William Blanton and the Rev. Dean Painter officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. A private gathering will also be held at a later date.
