Church news

Pacolet Road Baptist Church will have a Community Party on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. A singing begins at 11 a.m with The Hamptons who will be followed by Closer Walk at noon; Ingleside Trio at 1 p.m.; The Melody Trio at 2 p.m.; and Upstate Five at 3 p.m. There will also be games for all ages along with good food.

Homecoming services will be held Sunday, Sept. 20, at Mesopotamia United Methodist Church, 114 Mesopotamia Road. Worship will begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Franklin Morris bringing the message. A covered dish lunch will follow.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 509 Cherokee Falls Road, Blacksburg, will have an Old-Fashioned Day on Sunday, Sept. 20. Everyone is invited to a day of old-fashioned worship, fun and fellowship. Bring a well-filled basket of food, tea, drinks and desserts to share. Chicken, rolls and paper products will be provided. Sunday School starts at 10 a.m. and worship is at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served in the fellowship building. Pastor Richard Brown will bring the message.

There will be a special service Friday, Sept. 18, at New Harvest Ministries, 215 Pecan St. The Rev. Wayne and Doris Pressley of Canton, N.C., will be ministering.

The YWAs of Bethel Baptist Church will celebrate their anniversary Sunday, Sept. 20, at 10:30 a.m. Speaker will be Cathy Neal, associate minister of Bethel.

Antioch Baptist Church of Gaffney, 300 Serene Drive, will have a Friends and Family Day Sunday, Sept. 20, at 3 p.m.

A Divine Purpose's Night of Worship will be held at Greater Hope Ministries, 1320 old Georgia Hwy., Saturday, Sept. 19, at 5 p.m.

El Bethel Baptist Church will have a yard sale at Vic's Tire and Auto Service, 120 E. Frederick St., Saturday, Sept. 19, from 7 a.m. until. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of a new church sign.

Homecoming will be held Sunday, Sept. 20, at El Bethel Baptist Church, 116 Billy Goat Bridge Road. The Rev. John Goforth will bring the message and the choir will present special music. A meal will follow the service.

Eastside Baptist Church, 1284 E. Cherokee St., Blacksburg, will host its third Saturday night singing Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. Guests will be The Phillips Family, The Golden Valley Crusaders and the Hamptons.

Class reunions

Meeting

The Gaffney Business and Professional Women's Club will meet Monday, Sept. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the House of Pizza. The meeting will be a business session. Guests and prospective new members are welcome.

Gospel concert

Larry Hill will be in concert Saturday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. at Chesnee Gospel Music Center on Green Lake Road.

Fund raisers

A fund raiser for the local Alzheimer's Association will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at 800 N. Logan St. There will be a yard sale and hot dog plate sale with all proceeds going to support the Alzheimer's Association. Hot dogs will be available from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The event is sponsored by Quality Health Management.
